Iowa (10-9. 1-5) outscored IL (10-8, 0-5) 14-7 in overtime after IL guard Trent Frazier sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. In that one, Iowa's Isaiah Moss put up 25 points to lead the team. To this point, that's not a consistent kind of performance, especially from Cook, but given how Iowa has played defensively, getting and making the most of second chances is a high priority. January 11 marked the first time the Hawkeyes scored 100 or more points in a Big Ten game since 1995 and the first time doing so on the road in conference play since 1988.

But Iowa fought back in the second half outscoring IL 49-36.

IL freshmen Greg Eboigbodin, Trent Frazier, and Da'Monte Williams greeted the media to preview the game.

The Illini still were clinging to an 82-79 lead following a 3 by Frazier with 5:21 remaining, but Garza took over the game at that point, scoring eight consecutive points to give the Hawkeyes an 87-82 lead. Jordan Bohannon of Iowa led all scorers with 29 points.

The Illini (10-10 overall, 0-4 Big Ten) dropped a pair of overtime games to Northwestern and Maryland in December and recently lost at Minnesota and MI by 10 points apiece. Iowa improves to 10-9 and 1-5 in the Big Ten.

Jordan Bohannon scored 29 points to help Iowa rally from a 20-point deficit for a 104-97 overtime win over IL on Thursday night.

Cook and Garza both posted double-doubles and a total of five Hawkeyes reached double figures.

On Iowa's next possession, Garza snared an offensive rebound and scored while falling to the ground and he made the and one to complete the three point play.

Iowa opened the second half on a 10-0 run, capped by a Baer and Bohannon 3-pointer to cut the deficit to three points. Each team has only one win in the Big Ten. The largest came in 1987 when the Hawkeyes came from 22 down to beat the Illini.

It was Iowa's second-largest comeback win in school history.

"It was a manageable number at halftime, that was important", said McCaffery. Illinois's win probability (pictured below, from ESPN) would hit 97% after that, its highest of the evening.

But Iowa came out looking like a completely different team in the second half.

"We came out right from the jump in the second half, " Garza said. Garza finished with a double-double.

Steele finished with a game leading 19 points and grabbed six rebounds before collecting her fifth foul in the overtime period. "When Luka came in, he came in with energy and confidence". Iowa's issues are more complicated, obviously, but this fact remains true.

Harris took encouragement from the play of the SIUE reserves, who accounted for 31 points, or 18 more than Belmont's substitutes. He's not a huge threat from outside, but the offense will flow through him.

Several Illinois men's basketball players, coaches, even support staffers are fighting the flu bug in the worst way. Iowa, meanwhile, did a terrific job of making free throws (17-22; 77.3 percent).

The Hawkeyes had 17 offensive rebounds, turning them into 18 second-chance points.

Iowa: As has been well-documented, Iowa struggles with consistently doing things well.
