The untitled series, Apple's first foray into comedy, is inspired by Curtis Sittenfeld's upcoming short story collection, "You Think It, I'll Say It". Apple reportedly set a $1 billion budget to produce original TV shows and movies in 2017, so we'll presumably be hearing a lot more Apple development news over the coming months.

In a competitive situation with multiple outlets bidding, Apple has landed a 10-episode comedy series executive produced by and starring the Saturday Night Live grad.

Colleen McGuinness (30 Rock) created the series and serves as showrunner. Hello Sunshine's Lauren Neustadter and Sittenfeld himself will also work as consulting producers on the project.

Some of the other series now under production for Apple include Amazing Stories, Steven Spielberg's reboot of his '80s sci-fi cult classic anthology. It's already been announced that the show will have a female director (Andrea Arnold has been hired to replace Jean-Marc Vallée), and it's now been reported that numerous stars will also be getting a pay raise. The second is ' Are You Sleeping' starring Octavia Spencer. If this lineup is any indication, the viewers are sure to come-even if they have to spare a few extra dollars.
