In the introduction to "Fire and Fury", Wolff writes numerous accounts provided "are in conflict with one another" and may be "badly untrue".

The expose about Trump's first year in office made waves earlier this month, with the president himself decrying the book as "phony" and "full of lies, misrepresentations and sources that don't exist". Now the German publication Der Spiegel has taken aim at the President by depicting him at the lowest end of the spectrum of the "march of progress" illustration, or should we say "march of regression". "Wolff will serve as an executive producer on the project with former BBC executive Michael Jackson also producing". Wolff referes to how Trump was using the campaign as a pre-runner to getting better TV exposure. Fire and Fury has become that rare thing in political books: a bestseller that drives conversation. It led to a public falling-out between Trump and his former adviser Steve Bannon.

Wolff originally told Trump of the title, and then told the author and reporter to speak to Conway and then-aide Hope Hicks, who later told other aides to only make "positive" comments to Wolff.
