Apple to release larger iPhones later this year

The reason for this upgrade? For the past four years, we have seen every new iPhone tag along a bigger brother; even in 2017, the iPhone 8 was accompanied by the iPhone 8 Plus.

It's why people sometimes wait about a year after a phone's release, for a discount on the device.

Experts say the high price of the iPhone X - Apple's most expensive handset yet - and its "lack of interesting innovations" could deter many buyers.

The company has not specified that which iPhone 6 Plus models are eligible to be replaced. That may mean a lower resolution than the "Super Retina" screen on the iPhone X and other compromises, but in general Apple's goal with the new model will be to keep costs down. Most recently, Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed that a future iOS update will let users turn off this deliberate slowdown feature.

Per MacRumors, Kuo's note to investors today included the following: "iPhone X would hurt product brand value & lineup of 2H18 new models if it continues to sell at a lower price after 2H18 new models launch", said Kuo. Apple may have plans to drop the "X" moniker, and do away with the rest of the iPhone numbering system, too.

Intel urges halt to installing its Meltdown/Spectre patches
The Intel executive added that the released firmware updates have been "effective at mitigating exposure to the security issues". The company is advising people to stay far away from its patch after users complained that it caused their machines to reboot.

During a trip to China last month Apple CEO Tim Cook said he "couldn't be happier" with the demand for the iPhone X in the country.

Some analysts have also flagged disappointing demand. This report comes from a trusted source and hence we expect it to be cancelled. However, the 6.1-inch LCD model is particularly expected to help Apple grow the shipments of iPhones by up to 10 percent in the entire 2018 calendar year. Given Apple's penchant for having different iPhone models at a variety of price points, we have to imagine that the iPhone 7 will stick around as an affordable option for users looking to save some cash or who still aren't ready to embrace Face ID.

The iPhone X is indeed a major creation for Apple, but several analysts already suggested that iPhone X sales in the fiscal first quarter would not be able to meet the original projection of 50 million and reach just 30 million units.

Apple is trying to boost the iPhone X sales by touting its various features.
