As per a in 9to5Google, Google has posted a banner ad for audiobooks on the Google Play Store.

According to 9to5google, an advertisement banner appeared on Google Play for several users, which revealed that the audiobooks will be available for sale on Google Play. To celebrate the arrival, Google's banner also mentions a deal which takes 50% off the first audiobook you purchase.

The company has teased a banner promoting the arrival of audiobooks. The banner is said to be visible for all users on the Web and the Android app, however, we don't see it. That includes movies, TV shows, music, books, comics, and more.

The link to it now does not work, though that could change very soon.

Currently, the Google Play Store houses a few audiobooks but it is unfortunately not as extensive as the library of Amazon. This clears that the giant will definitely going to add Audiobooks section to the Play Store as the ads are already live on some user's website and mobile apps.

Then again, things will get a bit more cluttered with the addition of an audiobooks section.

As of now, there is no information of when this specific section will be introduced, and how they will be accessed. Similarly, The Android Soul just recently had also reported that in their APK teardown of the latest update to the Google Play Books app, and they had found a code for several new features, including audiobooks. It said that audiobooks and ebooks will be divided into separate tabs.

Amazon now dominates the market, however, with its ownership of Audible, but it appears Google is about to make a big push back. Most of the new e-readers are now come with audiobooks support and for that reason, the giant has chose to offer a separate audiobooks section on the Play Store.
