08 de febrero de 2018, 16:04Washington, Feb 8 (Prensa Latina) The massive military parade that U.S. President Donald Trump intends to carry out this year may not be in this capital because there are several options, stated Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White.

According to BuzzFeed News, the change was revealed in documents filed before a federal judge reviewing President Donald Trump's ban on transgender troops. Dictators around the world use parades like these to try to scare enemies and intimidate their own citizens.

Although Defense Secretary Jim Mattis has not commented publicly on the idea of a Washington military parade, the idea is not an obvious fit with his emphasis on focusing strictly, if not exclusively, on military activities that either improve the lethality of the armed forces or enhance their preparation for combat, or both.

"The world knows America has a military", Noah said during a broadcast of "The Daily Show" on Wednesday.

Some said they were concerned it was a display of Trump's "authoritarian tendencies" without actually taking the military's needs into consideration. The context of Trump's parade will make it little more than an exercise in authoritarianism and wastefulness. It, like the handful of other military parades in American history, commemorated the ending of a war. At the time, the Soviet Union had yet to collapse - although it had begun to crumble - which might help to explain the weird, Cold War feel of holding a parade in 2018.

Officials are also concerned about the optics of such a display of force, considering increased tensions with North Korea, and the connection between military parades and political despots in other nations. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., raised objections to the parade on financial grounds.

The Republican National Committee recently threw its support behind President Trump's ban on transgender people in the military.

"We're going to have to top it. Planes going over". Trump has reportedly proposed the idea multiple times following his visit to France during Bastille Day, where a military parade was held as he met with French President Emmanuel Macron. While the Pentagon does not yet have a cost estimate for how much another parade may cost, it is likely to be in the millions of dollars. That's why, if Trump proceeds with his plan, we need to be ready to mobilize veterans and military family members in opposition.
