Palestinian killed in clashes during Israeli raid: ministry

On Tuesday, Israeli security forces announced that the case has been closed after they found and killed Ahmad Jarrar, who they say was behind the killing of the rabbi.

Another security guard on duty at the time shot and killed the assailant.

Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip mostly use the Israeli shekel, Jordanian dinar, and US dollar, and have complained that their economy is too intertwined with Israel's.

An Israeli civilian was injured early Wednesday morning in a stabbing attack at the Karmei Tzur settlement in Gush Etzion, located north of Hebron in central West Bank.

They blocked main roads and shut down the Huwwara checkpoint, Wafa reported.

The incident comes after Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian teenager during an arrest raid in the village of Burqin in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian health officials said on Saturday.

During the raid, Israeli forces reportedly called on Jarrar to exit the building in which he was hiding, and when he did not, forces launched at least one missile at the building.

Jarrar was the son of a Hamas figure killed by Israeli forces during the second Intifada of the early 2000s. The al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, presented its condolences of Jarrar describing him as the "leader of the al-Qassam cell that carried out the heroic Nablus attack weeks ago".

Palestinian territories have remained dogged by tension since U.S. President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital last December.

Israeli settlements are seen as illegal under worldwide law and a major obstacle to peace as they are built on Palestinian land, seen as central to a future Palestinian state.

Israel faced sharp criticism from the administration of former USA president Barack Obama over settlement construction, but that has not been the case under his successor Donald Trump.

Eyewitnesses said the soldiers fired dozens of live rounds at the Palestinians, while many locals hurled stones at the invading forces.

Mass protests against the Israeli army broke out in Jenin and Nablus, and another Palestinian was killed after being shot in the chest.
