Auto Expo: Mahindra unveils wide range of e-vehicle concepts

Renault showcased its electric concept cars TREZOR and ZOE e-Sport at the Auto Expo 2018 and said it is awaiting a clear policy and roadmap on infrastructure for electric vehicles to take a long-term strategic decision.

On the first of the two pre-open days at the India Expo Mart located in Greater Noida, automobile major Maruti Suzuki showcased "e-SURVIVOR" electric vehicle (EV) design concept.

It would have a Lithium-ion battery and could run up to 30 km per hour and offers a mileage of 80 km.

The first day of the Auto Expo 2018 saw more than 22 OEMs unveiling 65 products and launching 14 models.

"Combining the comfort and space of a sedan with the ability to tackle all kinds of terrain, we intend to storm the market with an SUV that will set new parameters in motoring", said Kia's design chief Peter Schreyer when unveiling the SP Concept.

Kia that has announced its foray in India, unveiled the striking new SP Concept, which made its public premier at Auto Expo 2018 along 16 global models. The company also introduced two new vehicular architecture platforms for passenger vehicles.

Suzuki Motorcycle India unveiled its new flagship scooter, Burgman Street, a 125 cc advanced luxury scooter and also announced the new apex predator GSX-S 750 for the Indian market. The vehicle is also equipped with i3S (idle-start-stop tech) that, up until now, was seen only on Hero motorcycles.

The expo was attended by renowned personalities like Bollywood Actor Shahrukh Khan at Hyundai stand supporting the government's swatch Bharat Campaign, Actress Sonakshi Sinha, Former Indian Captain Mohammed Azhrudin & Cricketer Gautam Gambhir were also spotted at the Auto Expo. The Suzuki pavilion had 17 models showcased across scooters, motorcycles, big-bikes as well as motor sports category. He added the funding will help the company in its expansion plans and is expected to be closed by June this year.

Electric two-wheeler maker Twenty Two Motors launched a smart electric scooter "Flow", priced at Rs 74,740, and has plans to roll out over 2 lakh units in three years.

Another two-wheeler manufacturer Piaggio India launched the scooters "Aprilia SR 125" and unveiled the "Aprilia Storm".

Humsafar DLX has been priced at Rs 1.9 lakh and Humsafar 2000 is priced at Rs 1.95 lakh (both ex-showroom UP).

The company, which is a part of Lohia Group, also launched its diesel-driven three-wheeler loader Humsafar 2000 and a passenger vehicle Humsafar DLX at prices of $3030 (INR 1.95 Lakhs) and $2952 (INR 1.90 Lakhs) respectively.
