AG Eric Schneiderman sues Weinstein Company, reveals new allegations against movie mogul

The New York State Attorney General filed a lawsuit against against Harvey Weinstein following an investigation revealing repeated examples of sexual misconduct, officials said Sunday. Schneiderman's office said any sale must ensure that victims are compensated.

Harvey Weinstein has been accused by almost 100 women of sexual harassment, bullying or rape.

Among the specific allegations against Harvey Weinstein, who is now undergoing rehabilitation in Arizona, is the allegation he threatened employees with violence, touted his connections to powerful political figures and asserted that he had contacts within the Secret Service "that could take care of problems".

"To work for Harvey Weinstein was to work under a persistent barrage of gender-based obscenities, vulgar name-calling, sexualized interactions, threats of violence, and a workplace generally hostile to women", the suit claims.

The Attorney General's lawsuit alleges that company executives and board members repeatedly failed to protect employees from their then-CEO's unrelenting sexual harassment, intimidation, and discrimination.

Last month an investment group began exclusive negotiations for the company's assets.

Top prosecutor Eric Schneiderman launched an investigation into The Weinstein Companies in October of 2017. The entourage was known to witnesses as Weinstein's "wing women". One female employee alleged that Harvey Weinstein exposed himself to her and would touch her without consent. Another complaint alleges that he humiliated a male executive at his company by asking other TWC executives if they could "smell his pussy".
