Currently, White is tied for having the most Olympic gold medals in snowboarding, so a gold in PyeongChang could leave him as the most decorated Olympic snowboarder ever.

"Honestly, I'm here to talk about the Olympics, not gossip", White told reporters. "I am who I am and I'm proud of who I am".

And in two years' time, fans in Japan could get their chance to see White firsthand - on a skateboard.

Shaun White celebrates after his gold medal winning performance.

"I remember being handed the flag".

"I think I was able to give it everything I had in the second run".

"I was crushing practice, things were great, and just one kind of little mess up, and - boom! Thank you, I'm feeling blessed", White added. White knew his run was good, maybe the best he could offer, but he didn't know if it was good enough for the gold he desperately wanted.

It's been an incredible comeback for White.

One of the new things players on either side of the border war agree on is that the rivalry brings out the best with both teams. In the absence of the NHL, which chose not to send players to Pyeongchang, the US men's national team is comprised of outcasts.

Ms Driver, who had travelled to Cambodia and Thailand with the charity, said she would continue to fight economic and social injustice.

- Tara Lipinski became the youngest-ever figure skating gold medalist at just 15 years old in 1998.

The 31-year-old suffered a should injury just a month before he needed 62 stitches to his face after he crashed in New Zealand back in October.

He more than fulfilled the task of performing one of the most impressive halfpipe performances in the history of the Winter Games. She was the only woman in the band. Zawaideh alleged that White had texted her pictures of penises, shown her pornographic videos, demanded that she wear revealing clothes and, among other things, stuck his hands down his trousers and then in her face. He apparently forced her to "watch videos sexualising human fecal matter" and also "stuck his hands down his trousers and tried to make her smell them".

Demanded she "wear sexually revealing clothes" and cut her hair.

White's lawyer, Kerry Garvis Wright, previously told Us Weekly in a statement that her client did send the text messages, but the lawsuit isn't justified. White's statement did not specify what was in the texts. He and Zawaidah eventually reached a settlement out of court.

Shaun White is most famous for his stylistic snowboarding and his skateboarding.

So far White's reputation, athletic career and business dealings - including sponsorships and clothing lines - have not been affected. That same year, White landed his first sponsorship with snowboard manufacturer Burton.

In the last round, with the last run of the final, White managed to pull out a near-perfect run to steal gold.
