'White substance' is sent to Barack Obama's DC office

Former President Barack Obama had quite the scare at his office in Washington D.C. on Tuesday (Feb. 13). It's unclear if Obama was in the office.

According to TMZ, emergency responders are on the scene and investigating to determine if it's safe.

The building is owned and the headquarters for the non-profit World Wildlife Fund. Mr Obama lives with his family in the nearby Kalorama neighbourhood.

On Monday, the daughter-in-law of President Donald Trump, Vanessa Trump, was hospitalized in NY after opening a letter containing a white powdery substance. The substance turned out to be cornstarch, but Vanessa Trump still checked into a hospital as a precaution after coughing and feeling nauseous.

Officials were able to determine the substance was harmless and was, in fact, baby powder, but it tied up traffic and caused concern for people in the West End area between Dupont Circle and Georgetown.

The NYPD also said that the Secret Service would also be a part of the investigation.

The Spokesman for WWF tells FOX 5 this was the second instance in two days for their organization, as a package containing a white powder was sent to their Switzerland HQ Monday.
