After releasing lighter versions of YouTube and other its apps, Google has now released a faster version of Gmail itself called Gmail Go. Gmail Go app also claims to block spam messages before it reaches your inbox. In the case of Gmail Go, it means that you probably won't be able to install it on your regular Android device. This makes the app lighter when installed, consuming around 25MB on compatible devices - contrary to the 47MB space consumed by its regular version.

Being a Go edition app, the download size of the Gmail Go app is much smaller than the regular app. Gmail Go weighs just around 9.51MB compared to 20.66MB of the regular app. Of course, the prime objective of the Gmail Go app is to provide Gmail access amidst using less RAM and data.

Even before the last version of the Android OS, Oreo, is yet to be carried by many phones, there are already discussions over what Google will do with its next issue, the Android P. It is learnt that for internal communication purposes, Google identifies this as Android Pistachio Ice Cream, though the final name may not be the same.

Project Fi now supports 170 countries for worldwide travel
That number has now increased quite a bit, with Google announcing that Project Fi now officially supports 170 countries . It's also easier for users now to find out if they will have worldwide data coverage with Fi for their next trip.

The app is available on Google Play, but can be downloaded in a limited set of countries and only by devices running Android 8.1 Oreo. So, Gmail Go is almost half in size than the regular Gmail app that we have been using for the past so many years.

Interestingly, Gmail Go also features Search box to search for the email within the Inbox. Despite its lightweight build, the Gmail Go app provides you with an advanced inbox that categorises social and promotional emails under different tabs to help you focus on important messages first. Android Go is an operating system designed for entry-level devices. The app supports most of the basic features of Gmail as well as offers you multiple account support to let you set up both Gmail and non-Gmail addresses, such as, Yahoo Mail, or other IMAP/POP email accounts, instantly. Gmail Go comes with 15GB of free storage, this takes away the headache of deleting emails to save space.
