After declining to offer general manager Rich Cho a new contract, Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan is planning to target former Los Angeles Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak for a high-ranking role in the organization, league sources told ESPN. The search for his replacement will begin immediately.

Peterson, now an assistant GM for the Hornets, was Jordan's roommate during their time in school, while the 6-foot-9 Kupchak was one of the school's best regarded players, along with being a three-time National Basketball Association champion.

"I want to thank Rich for all of his hard work with the Charlotte Hornets organization through the years and wish him and his family the best in the future", Hornets chairman Michael Jordan said.

It does make some sense, though, considering the North Carolina aspect.

Another possibility for Charlotte is Rockets executive vice president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas, according to the report.

US Secret Service denies scuffle over 'nuclear football' in China
Kelly rushed over and told the USA officials to keep walking - "We're moving in", he said - and the Americans all started moving. A Chinese security official then grabbed Kelly, and Kelly shoved the man's hand off of his body, according to Axios .

The Hornets have a whopping $96.7 million tied between their starting lineup and Cody Zeller, who have somehow combined to a mere 24-33 record, sitting 5.5 games away from playoff contention.

Cho assumed day-to-day responsibilities of the basketball operations department in 2014. Chris Mannix of Yahoo Sports previously reported ahead of the trade deadline that there were rumblings around the league about Kupchak joining the Hornets with Cho in the final year of his contract, so this doesn't come as a surprise. Clifford has had a strong relationship with Jordan.

Changes could soon be in store for the Charlotte Hornets' front office.

Jordan reportedly considers assistant general manager Buzz Peterson a foundational piece of Charlotte's front office, so he would team with Kupchak or any other replacement (in title or otherwise) for Cho. We are deeply committed to our fans and to the city of Charlotte to provide a consistent victor on the court.
