It comes enclosed in an ultra-rugged case out of the box, protecting the handset from extreme temperatures, salt water and thermal shock.

The smartphone is said to be inspired by the Land Rover Discovery, and the British manufacturer claims it is the "toughest phone in the world". Drops from 1.8m or less are also said to be shrugged off by the design. It's water, splash and dust resistant to military-grade IP68 resistance, and drop-proof to an impressive 1.8 metres.

THINK LAND ROVER and you'll probably picture a rugged 4x4 trotting over muddy fields, likely driven by a tweet-sporting member of the Countryside Alliance; not a toughened Android smartphone.

Not content with driving a Range Rover Sport PHEV down one of the world's most risky roads, Land Rover has sought to conquer the smartphone market by developing one of the industry's most rugged devices out there.

Qatar Airways first to receive Airbus A350
This stretched version of the aircraft is seven metres longer than the A350-900 and carries an additional 40 seats. On board the flight were select VIPs, including Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr.

It has a five-inch high-definition screen that can be controlled even through a glove, it packs an SOS light, weather info, a compass and off-road mapping data.

Adding to its outdoorsy credentials, the Land Rover Explore contains a slew of extras to help make it essential while on the go. It adds a beefier 4,370mAh battery into the mix and has a handlebar mount. The "Adventure Pack" lets you magnetically connect an extra 3600mhA battery and a 25mm ceramic patch Global Positioning System antenna to the pins on the back, bringing your battery life up to 7600mhA and improving the Global Positioning System signal; helpful if you're planning to spend a couple of days traveling in remote locations.

Most people know Land Rover as the carmaker that popularised off-roading but the company also has its fair share of ventures outside the motoring world. During the week, you can keep it bare - passing it off as a normal, albeit car-branded flagship - before augmenting it with the Adventure Pack while you climb Snowdonia or cycle the South Downs Way at the weekend. More details concerning the Land Rover and Bullitt Group designed phone and its availability will be released at MWC 2018, next week.
