The Vikings received two compensatory sixth round picks - the 213 and 218 overall picks in the draft.

The formula used by the league determines which teams are deserving of additional draft picks after losing valuable players in free agency the year prior.

The Giants have the No. 2 overall selection in the draft after finishing with a 3-13 record, which allows them to select second in each round of the draft (save for the aforementioned seventh which was traded for Cockrell).

The teams which lost more free agents than they signed a year ago finally got their reward.

The NFL released its compensation picks for the 2018 NFL draft, and as expected the Patriots got one. Both the Bengals and Packers are receiving the maximum of four compensatory picks as are Dallas and Oakland. That changed with the NFL's announcement of this year's compensatory picks. Of course, Foles's performance in the playoffs and Super Bowl had no bearing or else the pick would be much, much higher for the Chiefs.

To that end, the Cowboys were given a fourth-round pick (137th overall), two fifth-round picks (171 and 173) and a sixth-round pick (208).

The 2018 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 26.

The Vikings fourth-round pick was traded to Philadelphia as part of the Sam Bradford trade in 2016, and the team's seventh-round pick was traded to the Seahawks for CB Tramaine Brock, Sr. last September.
