The Asus ZenFone 5Z is the premium smartphone among the trio of new devices, and it has a premium aesthetic to match.

Asus isn't ashamed two of its new phones look exactly like Apple's iPhone X. Looking at the specs, though, it's hard not to get impressed by the ZenFone 5 and 5z.

The ZenFone 5Z is priced at €479, or £499.99 in the United Kingdom for the 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM version, Asus said. What's significant is their design - they look very similar to the iPhone X. At the front, you get dual camera setup again consisting of a 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor with a f/2.0 aperture and a secondary 8MP sensor with 120-degree wide-angle lens. According to Asus, the 5Z uses "intelligent display technology", which basically means it uses sensors to automatically adjust the color temperature.

Asus will ship the ZenFone 5 Lite in March, then release the ZenFone 5 and 5Z in April and June, respectively.

A 6.2-inch smartphone that features an edge-to-edge display. It won't match the Quad HD panel on the Samsung Galaxy S9+ in sharpness, but it's almost on par with the Sony Xperia XZ2 and technically the iPhone X if we're going by raw pixel count. Specs are light on this device, but we know that it has a 5.5-inch display. This smartphone is fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor, while the Adreno 630 GPU is also a part of that package. The handset will hit the Indian shelves this year, the company revealed. Around back are a 16MP camera and a 120-degree wide-angle camera.

The camera also comes with AI scene detection that can identify up to 16 different scenes and objects such as lakes, animals, sunsets, plants (flowers) and humans.

The smartphone comes with face unlock, USB Type C and it is powered by a 3300 mAh battery. A 3300mAh battery completes the package. The latter gives you the option to record 4K videos with the main rear camera and you also get support for the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band, whereas if you go with the SD430 you're limited to 1080p and 2.4GHz.

The Asus ZenFone 5 Lite smartphone comes with company's own Face Unlock feature. As seen with the earlier Zenfone smartphones, the Zenfone 5 Lite also in few different variants. The top end Asus ZenFone 5Z is priced at Euro 479 around ₹38,400 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage variant.

My colleague Chance wrote an opinion piece last night arguing that the notch design is much better than having both a chin and forehead on smartphones. It ships with Android Nougat and not Oreo as some might have been expecting. If you can not afford the iPhone X, consider the options of Zenfone 5 series.

The ZenFone 5 will also have a 6.2-inch display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat with Oreo update planned for Q3 2018.

Elsewhere, the top-end Asus Zenfone 5Z packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB built-in storage.

Both the 5 and 5z have the same camera setups, with one 12MP camera with "Sony Flagship IMX 363 image sensor" and F1.8 aperture, 83-degree field of view, 24mm focal length, and LED flash.

Asus has made a decision to go with a dual SIM and microSD card slot for the phone and has placed a 20MP Sony IMX 376 sensor coupled with a 120-degree wide-angle lens and the front comes with a 16MP sensor and a 120 degrees wide-angle camera as well. The ZenFone Max Plus M1, for example, is backed by a 4130mAh battery and is claimed to deliver up to 26 hours on standby time and up to 13 hours of video playback.
