Russell Wilson Hopes To Figure Out Yankees' 'Aroma'

You may remember him as the Wisconsin quarterback in the 2012 Rose Bowl, when his Badgers were defeated by none other than the Oregon Ducks.

NY general manager Brian Cashman said last week that the Yankees think Wilson can help their players by passing on knowledge of his preparations and daily routines with the Seahawks.

It appears he's doing the same this year for the Yankees, who traded for him February 7.

After all, Billy Crystal did this same sort of thing with the Bombers a decade ago.

One went over the left-field pavilion.

Indeed, Wilson said he'd done some practicing on Saturday.

Russell Wilson hitting home runs for the Yankees?

When his six days of baseball are over in Tampa, Wilson will likely return home and refocus his efforts on getting the Seahawks back to another championship. "This is the team is I have always been passionate about".

"Watching him take a ball from the outfield that was kind of an in-between hop and watching him moving his feet real well and create a longer hop, that's a savvy good-player move", Yankees manager Aaron Boone said.

Wilson has no interest in attempting to reach the majors in baseball, according to Crasnick, but this is a chance to reconnect with the game during the National Football League offseason.

"I always told my dad I'd be a New York Yankee, and now I'm here", Wilson said. "There's an aroma around here that I've got to figure out".

Wilson will be here for about a week, but the Yankees have already stated that he won't play in a game.

"This is the team that I have always loved", said Wilson in a press conference on Monday. "I want to come back to my roots". "And I can't wait to learn more about it and use that for my football career, as well". And so for me, and these guys in there, they all have a certain mindset of success, a place they want to go. "I'm ready to hack away". But Wilson seemed eager to play if the Yanks permitted him. Judge, though, declined to reveal the contents of Wilson's speech to the team.

"I love playing the game I play now", he said. He actually out-homered Gary Sanchez on the day, 6-5. "When you see me make plays on the football field, a lot of that is a direct correlation to baseball", he said.

Wilson didn't do anything with the Rangers the past two years.

Wilson wasn't much of a power hitter in his abbreviated stint in pro ball.

Wilson, who watched Monday night's game from the dugout, says he doesn't have any plans to stop playing football in-spite of all the health dangers now associated with the sport. And it's only batting practice.
