US Curling Team Shocks Sweden To Win Gold At 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics

A former Olympic hockey player led the Minnesota Senate Monday, Feb. 27, in honoring the US gold medal curling team.

Ennen arrived at the airport with balloons, signs and photos of the curlers as well as with Amy Swanoski and Randi Curry, two women who were at the curling club for Saturday's wee-hours viewing party and who couldn't stop crying when the team sealed their victory. "Just let it go". The Americans wound up with the five closest rocks to the bulls-eye, a five-point round that is essentially unheard of at this level of competition. Switzerland beat Canada in the bronze medal match. Thanks for flying with us!'

"I think what I was able to accomplish and come this this week is definitely a story that we can have forever", Shuster said.

"I can't tell you how unnervous I was over that throw, these guys gave me the confidence", said Shuster.

With two stones apiece left, Swedish skip Niklas Edin pushed off with a spin and a smile, and then conceded defeat.

The Swedes achieved a double to narrow the score to 10-7 but shook hands during the final end with the situation irretrievable.

"We played the rest of the game to get rid of the worst of the frustrations we were feeling inside", Edin said. They had gotten the medals stamped for the winners of the other tournament. "So special, I tried to send my first ever tweet wishing them good luck".

So when USA Curling started the "High Performance Program" in 2014 with the goal of improving the team's performance in global competitions, Shuster wasn't invited.

The gold is only the second Olympic curling medal won by the United States after their bronze won by Pete Fenson's rink, which included Shuster as lead thrower, at the 2006 Games in Torino. It remained to be seen, though, whether Shuster could purge the ghosts of his Olympic past.

The gold-medal match at the 3,500-seat curling arena attracted Ivanka Trump, the daughter and senior advisor to President Donald Trump.

Then came, "Sorry, not interested", when US officials wanted to revive their program by shedding the past.

The by-poll was held on February 24 in which around 82 percent of voters had exercised their franchise. Bypoll to Bijepur was necessitated following the death of Congress MLA Subal Sahu.

The men's team includes Tyler George, Matt Hamilton, John Landstiener, Joe Polo and John Shuster.

Despite the team's best efforts, fans were amused, and a bit horrified when Delta tweeted back that they were delighted the team would be flying Delta, but they couldn't offer an upgrade.

With Olympian John Landsteiner representing the community of curling in the area, the exposure from South Korea has provided an opportunity for expansion. On the brink of elimination again, they reeled off five consecutive victories.

Then he found a quiet spot on a grassy knoll near the facility.

YOU ARE GETTING SLEEPY: Was that a tray of cupcakes on the table in front of Tirico, or are we just getting delusional? "Seriously. This is the Olympics"'.

Shuster slept well that night.

The next morning, he happened to read a story on Facebook about speedskater Dan Jansen, who shook off disappointment and tragedy to win a gold medal in his final Olympic race. It never lost again.

"We've played our best when our backs were up against the wall", said George, the United States of America vice skip.

Huckabee Sanders acknowledged not knowing much about the arcane sport that re-joined the Winter Games two decades ago in Nagano, Japan. National Football League stars Aaron Rodgers and J.J. Watt tweeted their support.

And they did so while engaging new curling fans, with Mr. T giving a pregame pep talk over the phone and scores of celebrities and followers tweeting support and congratulations. "We hold @Delta in the same high regard we always have". That's what curling embodies.

"I've really enjoyed watching the men's luge", Greenleaf said.
