The Packers were among the Tennesee Titans, Detroit Lions, Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers, who Sherman is meeting with Saturday.

The Richard Sherman free agency tour officially got off to a hot start on Saturday with the former Seahawks cornerback taking a visit to San Francisco less than 24 hours after he was officially released.

Let's ignore the dislike many Niners fans probably have for Sherman for a moment and explore the other question.

Sherman, for his part, says he wants to play for a contender, and the 49ers could be one of the NFL's up-and-coming teams after winning its last five games behind QB wunderkind Jimmy Garoppolo.

The Seattle Seahawks could be seeing more of Richard Sherman than they would prefer during the 2018 season.

Sherman turns 30 on March 30. That could go to bringing in a player like Sherman, though all that would change if the team inks Johnson, who appears to be their main target this free agency season.

Sherman had surgery to fix his right Achilles in November.

Sherman told the NFL Network's Tom Pelissero he was looking for a team that has a "great quarterback" and a place he will be comfortable.

The 49ers are in need of cornerbacks and are expected to land a veteran in the coming week whether it is Sherman or someone else.

New England enters the weekend with approximately $23 million in cap space, which should enable the team to re-sign Nate Solder and make a run at another prominent player.
