National City Councilwoman Alejandra Sotelo-Solis told CBS8 she didn't witness the arrest but later spoke with people close to the family.

Morales-Luna, 36, is a single mother who came to the USA from Mexico when she was 15 years old, Moreno said.

At Friday's press conference, activist Mark Lane said Morales-Luna was arrested for being undocumented.

The emotional video shows the children screaming and crying as the mother is taken away.

In response to the video, CBP officials said Luna was detained due to accusations that she runs a criminal smuggling organization in the East county.

"Where is she going?" one of the daughters asked after the vehicle disappeared.

According to a report 36 year-old Perla Morales-Luna came to the states illegally at age 15.

The Raptors beating the Rockets is NBA basketball at its best
The only question was whether it would come after the team has an off-night against a lousy team or some real competition. Right from the opening tip, it was clear the Raptors main defensive focus was to limit Houston three-point attempts.

Florida Lawmakers Pass Gun-School Safety Bill 3 Weeks After Massacre
Scott told reporters he would "review the bill line by line" and consult with victims' families before deciding his position. In schools, the measure also creates new mental health programs and establishes an anonymous tip line for reporting threats.

Video of the woman being pulled from her daughters on March 3 in National City, a San Diego suburb, drew almost 10 million views on Facebook by Friday afternoon. "If there weren't uniformed agents, it would resemble a kidnapping".

Morales-Luna has not been charged with any smuggling crimes and the Border Patrol has offered no evidence of that.

Morales-Luna was arrested as a result of a targeted operation on March 3 in National City for being in the country illegally, according to Michael J. Scappechio, Supervisory Border Patrol Agent for the U.S. Border Patrol. In it, plain clothes officers carry away Morales-Luna as her children are sobbing. "It makes you wonder why they did it that way, endangering the safety of her children, the woman, and the public that was standing around watching", Leopold said.

The video footage provided a window into the way these arrests play out amid immigrant families, Rios said. The video was posted on social media by Judith Castro, one of the daughter's teachers. "It breaks my heart to know that this is the mother of one of my students", Castro-Rangel said.

The controversy over the videotaped arrest comes amid the Trump administration's efforts to ramp up deportations and crack down on immigration enforcement.

The tweet goes on to say Morales-Luna eluded immigration officials after having contact with them, making her a flight risk.
