Today, exactly one month after this controversy started, View co-host Joy Behar finally offered a public apology for her comments about Mike Pence. "When you have a Mike Pence who now puts this religious veneer on things and who calls people values voters, I think we're this a risky situation".

The vice president concluded his answer by saying that he hoped Behar "and others on the airwaves will come to appreciate the meaning and, if I could say it, the joy that comes from faith and respect that". Pence said was happy that Behar had apologized to him personally, but wanted her to apologize to all Christians.

"I thought it was important that I defend the faith of tens of millions of Americans against that kind of slander, and I did so", Pence said, with self-congratulatory vigor while appearing on Fox with Sean Hannity.

"And I give Joy Behar a lot of credit", Pence continued. "She picked up the phone. It's another thing when Jesus talk to you", Behar jumped in to add.

Still, that wasn't enough for the second-in-command. "I'm still encouraging her, to use the forum of that program or some other public forum, to apologize to tens of millions of Americans who were equally offended".

Behar made the remarks in February after former White House aide Omarosa Marigault Newman disparaged Pence during a reality show appearance, mocking him for thinking Jesus spoke to him.

"It's an insult not to me, but to the vast majority of the American people who, like me, cherish their faith", said Pence. "That's called mental illness, if I'm not correct, hearing voices", she said.

Pence criticized the comments on C-SPAN, and Disney CEO Bob Iger also vocalized his objections. "I sincerely apologize for what I said". "That you could have a major network like ABC permit a forum for invective against religion like that".

MRC President Brent Bozell issued a statement declaring that Behar's private apology was "not almost enough" and promised to continue his campaign against "anti-Christian bigotry" at the network.

"He's not very popular at all", she said.
