Kim Jong Un Wants a Peace Treaty With Donald Trump

This would naturally entail major concessions on the part of Washington, yet without so much as a nod to his military brass, Trump accepted the invitation.

The editorial followed remarks by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi last week that the offer of summit talks was at least a partial result of Beijing's call for a "dual suspension" of North Korean nuclear activities in return for a postponement of U.S.

Thus, the one advantage that Kim Jong-un may have over the conservative-minded Trump is the knowledge that the United States, with a crumbling infrastructure back home that desperately needs finance, can no longer afford to be the world's policeman. "It seems highly unlikely that (Kim) would surrender the nuclear weapons program that has brought him to this point".

But as we know, markets aren't that simple - over the next few months, we are going to have to discern which risks are greater/going to take over.

Libya's Colonel Moammar Gadhafi gave up his quest for nuclear weapons too. They have made promises to denuclearize. Although many pundits were predicting all sorts of nightmarish scenarios, up to and including an attack by North Korea during the Games, nearly the very opposite scenario transpired.

So if the U.S. sees you as a problem and you value your life, don't stop until you get your nukes, and never give them up.

Not that North Koreans are lily white innocents.

"I am delighted that South Korea's efforts have made great progress in the overall Korean Peninsula situation and that close dialogue between NK and the U.S. has been achieved". Only one, Charles Jenkins, a sergeant, left North Korea to be court-martialled, demoted to private and discharged dishonourably with a 30-day jail sentence after pleading guilty to desertion and aiding the enemy, but only because he wanted to live in Japan with his Japanese wife. Does it mean dismantling North Korea's nukes?

Nevertheless, there is no word from Pyongyang about when the talks that the regime is said to have proposed will take place. The two countries have never enjoyed diplomatic relations. But even by talking to Mr Kim about it, he begins to give the concept substance.

Kyodo News reported on Sunday that Tokyo plans to cover most of the initial cost of 350 million yen ($3.3 million) to 400 million yen needed to finance inspections of the North Korean nuclear complex in Yongbyon.
