Nikolai Glushkov has been found dead in London, less than a fortnight after Sergei Skripal was poisoned with nerve gas in Salisbury.

London's Metropolitan Police force said in a statement on March 13 that officers were investigating the "unexplained" death of a man found at a house in the New Malden area late March 12.

He was a close associate of Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky, who was a friend of murdered spy Alexander Litvinenko.

Damian Kudryavstev, the editor of the Moscow Times newspaper, confirmed the news on Facebook.

Mr Berezovsky was found hanged in the bathroom of his Berkshire home in 2013 and an inquest recorded an open verdict.

A close friend of the deceased said to the Russian radio station Govorit Moskva that he may have died of AIDS, adding that Glushkov never hid his homosexuality.

Russian media said he was granted political asylum in Britain in 2010.

"I'm definite Boris was killed", he was quoted by the Guardian as saying at the time.

Glushkov continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding Berezovsky's death for some months. Too many bodies are happening. Berezovsky had been an early ally of Putin - but their relationship changed drastically, culminating in the tycoon leaving Russian Federation and being locked in a multi-billion-dollar legal battle with another oligarch, Roman Abramovich, over proceeds from the Sibneft oil company. He conceded that in the period before his death they had quarrelled.

49ers' Richard Sherman: Recent release has 'reignited' fire inside him
Garoppolo's five starts were enough to earn him a five-year, $137 million contract, with $74 million guaranteed, this offseason. While it's unknown exactly the paycut Seattle wanted Sherman to take, it's surely less than $10 million for the 2018 season.

Glushkov is believed to have two grown up children, Natasha and Dima, and an ex-wife who lives in Moscow.

Glushkov was due to appear at a United Kingdom court in a case where Aeroflot claimed he stole $123 million from them.

They were found in Salisbury, around two and a half hours from London.

Of the Skripal case, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said, "the use of this nerve agent would represent the first use of nerve agents on the continent of Europe since the Second World War".
