The discrepancy in pay came up during a Tuesday panel discussion about the Netflix drama at the INTV conference in Jerusalem.

However Suzanne Mackie assured that from now on all actresses to play the part of the Queen in The Crown will earn more than anyone else on the show.

Colman will replace Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II, while Bonham Carter will portray the royal sister, Princess Margaret.

Variety released information that reveals that Netflix's The Crown paid Doctor Who actor Matt Smith more than Claire Foy, who plays the titular representation of The Crown, Elizabeth II. However, even if the pay gap is remedied in future seasons, it won't benefit Foy, whose work on the series is over.

She said this was because Smith was better-known after starring in sci-fi series "Doctor Who".

Foy, however, will not be reprising her role as Queen Elizabeth.

While Smith certainly had more star power when he was cast - having previously starred in United Kingdom series Doctor Who - Foy's quickly rose over the span of the first season.
