The trailer for Fantastic Beasts 2 showcased a potentially major plot hole in Hogwarts canon.

The internet - or at least the large section of it that is dominated by Harry Potter fans - broke yesterday when the trailer for the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel dropped.

The first look for "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" is finally released. Jude Law will be playing a younger version of Dumbledore and Johnny Depp will be back as Grindelwald! Grindelwald was taken into custody by MACUSA at the end of the first movie, but months later, he'll escape early into The Crimes of Grindelwald and continue his mission to install a new regime where pureblood wizards rule over all magical beings. The Travers family is one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight pure-blood families in the Wizarding World who supports Voldemort during his time.

The "Crimes of Grindelwald" trailer was the first to show Hogwarts as part of the "Fantastic Beasts" story, which centers around Newt Scamander, a "magizoologist" with a suitcase full of odd creatures. And going by the trailer, it looks to be much more tied into the Potterverse than the last film, including an appearance from the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!

It begins with a sweeping shot of Hogwarts, the sort we've seen so often in the eight Potter films.

Needless to say, the trailer has magical glimpses of some of Newt Scamander's fantastic beasts and many of his adventures. However, director David Yates caused a bit of an uproar amongst fans when he said the film might not be directly addressing that relationship. His is set to direct the remaining three movies rounding out the "Fantastic Beasts" saga, with Rowling continuing on as a screenwriter.

Check it all out in the... fantastic trailer below! Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner and Claudia Kim will be the new cast members for the sequel.

The film drops on November 16, 2018. Let us know in the comments!
