Khonmoh Encounter: Two Dead Bodies of Militants Recovered so far

Two houses were damaged during exchange of gunfire between militants and security forces.

Reports said state BJP leader Mohammad Anwar Khan along with his two personal security officers (PSOs) was sacked upon by militants at Balhama and tried to snatch service rifles from them.

Earlier, on Sunday, three militants including two BTech students from Kashmir and another militant from Hyderabad, Telangana were killed in an encounter with security forces in south Kashmir's Anantnag district. The doctors attending on Ahmed said he received a minor injury in the shootout and is out of danger.

Security personnel immediately surrounded the village and a gunfight started there. "He has been identified as Hamas - a FT (foreign terrorist)", a police spokesperson said.

In the said incident, two dead bodies of militants have been recovered so far, whose identities are being ascertained.

"Angry youth in groups are hurling rocks at the security forces apparently to disrupt the operation", said a local resident over the phone.

The officer said that the operation in order to sanitize the whole area is going on and by evening the operation will be concluded. "It took time to sanitise the encounter site due to the possibility of the presence of explosives amid the ongoing protests by terrorist sympathisers in the region", Parray added.
