Meanwhile, RJD saw politics behind the conviction of Lalu Prasad and acquittal of Mishra. Lalu Prasad has appealed against this conviction and has been incarcerated at the Birsa Munda Central Jail since December 23.

On Saturday, he was shifted from Ranchi jail to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS), after he complained of multiple health problems, including rectal piles, low hemoglobin and irregular heartbeat.

The bulk of the cases was transferred to Ranchi after Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar in 2000. On January 24, the special CBI court sentenced Lalu to five years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10 lakh.

His youngest son Tejashwi Yadav, who is the leader of opposition in the Bihar assembly, is now leading the RJD in the state. While RJD retained the Jehanabad assembly seat, BJP was able to hold on to the Bhabua assembly seat.
