Chidambaram describes demonetisation as the greatest lie

Former finance minister P Chidambaram on Sunday said the number of people below poverty line has increased over the last four years, while adding that it is the Congress party which could revive the nation out of the current economic crisis.

"The BJP government has messed up the economy".

Singh also dismissed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's comment about farmers' incomes being doubled. "He said we will provide two crore jobs, we have not seen even two lakh jobs", Singh said in his address at the 84th Congress plenary session.

The Modi Government inherited a strong economy.

Sidhu said, "I want to apologise to Sardar Manmohan Singh with my head hanging down..."

Describing the government's demonetisation move as "ill-considered" and GST as "hastily implemented" +, the Congress leader said the twin measures had "messed up Indian economy".
