Iran's Supreme Leader posts Instagram pic reading 'Fire and Fury'

Khamenei reiterated that he knew that "accepting the nuclear deal would not end America's enmity".

Khamenei shared the photo from his own Instagram account Friday, days after Trump announced that the US would withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal.

He likened some Persian Gulf political leaders to "America's slaves", adding that Iran does not want to be like them. He also said he will reinstate economic sanctions on Iran.

"The US wishes to tell the Islamic Republic what to do, but the Iranians are an independent nation and Americans can not stand this", Khamenei said.

In a Sunday meeting with visiting Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena in Tehran, the Leader referred to the historical and cultural ties between Iran and sub-continent states including Sri Lanka and said the current level of relations between the two states is way lower than the existing capacities. The ceremony was attended by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Sri Lankan counterpart.

According to the website of Iran's Parliament "Khaneh Mellat", the MPs state that Iran nuclear deal with the world was aimed at lifting sanctions and opening in Iran's economy, neither of which has been fulfilled despite Iran fully compliance with the deal. Speaking at the Majles on Wednesday May 9, Larijani added that the Iran's Atomic Energy Organization should be prepared to resume nuclear activity, reported Tasnim News agency.

Raising the issue of Iran's nuclear program was an excuse to curb the Islamic Republic's regional influence and missile program, Khamenei said.

According to Iranian lawmakers, the United States has done all it could to deprive Iran from the benefits of the deal.

Before that message, Khamenei accused Trump of lying during his announcement.

Three days ago, ties between the U.S. and Iran took a significant turn for the worse.
