Pakistani media reacted angrily to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's remarks acknowledging involvement of Pakistan-based terrorists in the November 26, 2008 Mumbai attacks.

"Faizal, a resident of Mumbai was trained in Pakistan, said sources". Afghanistan's narrative is being accepted, but ours is not.

In an apparent effort to bring pressure on state's security apparatus as well as the judiciary, he even overlooked the fact that despite repeated requests from Pakistan, India never provided any proof against the Pakistani citizens whom it alleged of being the mastermind and planners of the attack.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Army has made a decision to hold a high-level meeting on Monday to discuss the "recent misleading media statement" about Mumbai terror attack, PTI reported.

India says Pakistan did not keep honour its commitment to a fair trial and sent the case to court without really investigating the conspiracy that led to the attacks. Comparing income tax cases against former finance minister P. Chidambaram with the corruption charges against Sharif, she said in a press conference in Delhi Sunday: "In India, for the Congress party, this is the Nawaz Sharif moment".

On May 12, 2918, Sharif publicly acknowledged that militant organisations were active in Pakistan and questioned the policy to allow the "non-state actors" to cross the border and "kill" people in Mumbai, as per a media report. India's position has been that the mastermind of the Mumbai terror attack operated from Pakistan.

Earlier Sharif told Dawn, "Militant organisations are active. Why can't we complete the trial?" he asked.

"It isn't possible that we let them go across the border and kill 150 innocents", the Punjab CM doubled down. The ATS, Mumbai was later contacted and he was arrested.

The Mumbai case is being tried in an anti-terrorism court since 2009 but the case isn't going anywhere. By the time the ATC was about to conclude the proceedings, the prosecution filed an application to produce survivors of the Mumbai attacks, the doctors who conducted the post-mortem examination of the deceased persons and terrorists, and eyewitnesses. Lakhvi along with Zarar Shah was allegedly the key planner of the attack.

The ex-interior minister said India manipulated the incident to malign Pakistan.
