In an announcement today, Google unveiled "Google One", an upgraded version of their previous Google Drive cloud storage system.

According to the Google One page, anyone with a paid Google Drive storage plan will automatically be upgraded to the new Google One storage over the coming months.

The company is also rolling out some upgrades and additional features with this name change. The lineup is set to include a new 200-gigabyte tier priced at $2.99 a month, plus a discounted successor to Google Drive's current 2-terabyte plan that will come in at $9.99 a month. The company also offers plans of up to 30 TB of space, but those higher tiers won't see any changes in price. "This change doesn't affect G Suite business customers". "One of the most common requests we've received is for storage plans to be sharable within a family". It'll still remain as a free service, where you can upload and manage your files, a company spokeswoman told PCMag. You also get special "one-tap access to experts" from Google "for help with our consumer products and services".

The primary advantages of Google One program are the family sharing and live support. "You'll gain access to extras from other Google products, like credits on Google Play or deals on select hotels found in Google Search".

Google is yet to announce the Google One paid plans for the Indian consumers and even confirmed that the program would be first live in the United States, followed by other countries.

The free tier now includes 15GB of free storage.
