Yoselyn Ortega was convicted last month in the deaths of 6-year-old Lucia Krim and 2-year-old Leo Krim.

She said Ortega has shown no remorse, and no one in her family has ever said they were sorry for the children's slayings. Then she placed them in the tub, authorities said.

"The defendant may think she destroyed Lulu and Leo, but she is a failure in this, too".

"It's the people of NY who wrapped their arms around us in our darkest moment - they are what make this the greatest city in the world", he said.

The parents claim Ortega's relatives gave false and misleading information about her background as a nanny.

Following the decision, Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance said in a statement that Ortega was "remorseless" and commended the courage of the Krims. "We miss feeling their soft skin in our arms".

The former CNBC executive said he was trying to figure it out and "fumbling around" when a flight attendant asked him to go to the cockpit. To God. To Marina. In her opinion, the killer not only reached their goal, but in the end, ruined the lives of his family forever and he cursed himself.

The judge expressed some understanding for Oretga regarding her mental illness and said it could mitigate some of her responsibility.

Kevin Krim eviscerated Ortega for not pleading guilty and forcing the case into a courtroom.

Mrs Krim had taken her third child, Nessie, to a swimming lesson.

Calling Ortega "an evil and utterly unsafe narcissist and a complete failure", Kevin addressed Judge Gregory Carro.

The conviction, which carries a mandatory sentence of life without parole, sealed her fate of never seeing the light of day as a free woman.

Ortega, whose lawyers failed to convince the panel she was not guilty by reason of insanity, on Monday returns to state Supreme Court in Manhattan for sentencing in a case that rattled many parents who entrust their children to a caretaker.

Prosecutors say Ortega knew what she was doing and understood "every stab, every slash" as she slaughtered the children. The emotional testimony often kept the panel and the audience in tears. But when they arrived, Lulu wasn't there.

Mr Krim, who now works at a start-up, and his wife use a Facebook page to post updates on their lives. Ortega, a USA citizen originally from the Dominican Republic, had stabbed Lulu 30 times.

She clarified she had subsequently witnessed Ortega chased himself at the throat at a clear suicide attempt.

At the sentencing, Marina Krim talked about what that crime scene may have done to Nessie, even though she has grown into a strong, happy child.
