Arfield may not be the only new arrival at the club today, though.

It's claimed Rangers have offered £4m to Fenerbahce, and a decision is yet to be made on whether a move will go ahead.

It is understood Rangers sought a long-term deal in January but Brighton preferred to wait until the summer.

Having played in the Scottish league with Falkirk between 2007 and 2010, it is believed that Arfield will not struggle to adapt to his new surroundings.

Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield is on the brink of a transfer to Rangers after passing a medical with the Scottish giants. "There were a few options in England that could have crept up but as soon as this magnitude of club came in, and coming back up the road appealed to me and my family, it was a no brainer".

"Steven Gerrard will definitely attract top players but I think Rangers already had that appeal because they are a top club".

Robert Parish Thinks Brad Stevens Gets Too Much Love: 'Win Something First'
That decision looks even more perplexing after seeing Boston's coaching staff guide the team through the postseason. The praise is uncomfortable, and it's just something that these guys should be getting it all", Stevens said.

"I'm excited to work with Gerrard. I'm going with the club's support and the club's backing - and I'm really excited to get started".

It was fortunate enough to play against him.

'It is just an absolute dream, ' Arfield said.

"Celtic have had it their own way for far too long", added Gerrard, who was speaking at a Liverpool supporters' event in Dubai.

"He is a talented and competitive midfielder who has competed at a high level in the English Premier League and internationally for Canada".

Gerrard will initially look to make an impact in the Europa League with Rangers, knowing that steering the Gers through qualifying and to the group stage would be a big early feather in his cap.
