First lady Melania Trump underwentkidney surgery Monday at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington, DC, according to a statement from her office.

"After the procedure, the patient is monitored to ensure that their vital signs remain stable and that there are no signs of bleeding", he says.

"Melania is doing really well".

The first lady underwent the procedure on Monday, and her office said she would likely remain in the hospital for the rest of the week.

The intervention, termed an embolization, was successful without any complications, read an announcement from Stephanie Grisham, communications director for the first lady.

Forget about sending the First Lady flowers as she recovers from surgery.

The White House didn't offer any additional details on Mrs. Trump's condition, though Vice President Mike Pence described the procedure as "long-planned".
