Lewis Hamilton knows better than to get too carried away with Sunday's victory at the Spanish Grand Prix. Wolff revealed in Barcelona that discussions had been put on the back burner following Mercedes' troubled start to the season.

Vettel hinted that this was making the biggest difference between Mercedes, which won the race with Lewis Hamilton, and Ferrari throughout the weekend.

It was the first time Mercedes showed the type of dominance many fans had grown used to seeing from the Silver Arrows in recent years. In Spain, though, he was one with his vehicle again and his claim to victory never under threat.

The Briton went on to miss out on the podium in four of the next six outings before eventually hitting his stride fully at Spa - a race that marked the beginning of a title-clinching run of five wins in six.

"We honestly never thought it would be possible to do the race quickly with one stop, but the conditions changed and the tyres were behaving better than expected today, then it was possible", he said.

"But we know as well that this was a good circuit for us and the temperatures fell in our favour as well". Game over? Hamilton's fortuitous victory on the streets of Baku has opened the floodgates to the sort of dominant performances we saw in Spain and it'll be Hammer-time from now until the end of the year. More importantly, Mercedes-AMG locked out the front row.

Hamilton had a mixed start to the 2018 Formula 1 campaign, taking a sole pole and win from the opening four rounds, explaining that he had not felt fully comfortable in Mercedes' W09 across rounds in Bahrain, China and Azerbaijan. "Red Bull are going to be rapid and very hard to beat", he said.

Both the leaders will also exchange their views on their "respective national developmental priorities and bilateral matters". Observers have termed the move significant to boost investments in India.

The slow-speed nature of the most famous race on the F1 calendar is one which played into Ferrari's hands last term as Vettel led Kimi Raikkonen home in a one-two finish for the Italian team.

"For us it was not an option to stay out", Vettel said. It is definitely a great, great feeling and I think you could probably see form my energy when I got out the vehicle.

"My job is not to worry so much but preparing by extracting as much as I can from my engineers; to make sure the debrief is good, to reconnect with them later in the week once they have downloaded everything, and see that we have followed through with all the things that I have asked them to do".

Despite the early problems this season, Mercedes will arrive in Monaco with Hamilton leading the drivers' standings by 17 points over Vettel.

"It's obviously a little bit early to say but I would like to hope that it could be part of a turning point", he said.

"Why our vehicle doesn't like to be quick around the corners in Monaco we haven't found yet".
