Joachim Low has penned a contract extension with the German football Association (DFB) to keep him in charge of the national team until 2022. However, the Bayern Munich goalkeeper will be monitored during the training camp, reports Xinhua news agency.

"It wasn't his season", Low said of Gotze.

But now he has committed his future to his nation for another four years in a deal which could see him manage at the World Cup in Qatar.

MARIO GOTZE HAS missed out on Germany's provisional squad for this summer's World Cup finals in Russian Federation. He wasn't able to show his incredible quality.

Four players will be cut from the squad before the finals begin. Although uncapped at senior level, Petersen was the top scorer at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, when Germany won the silver medal.

"From the DFB's perspective, it has been made clear that it was not a good decision, but I didn't think of leaving them out for a second", said Germany head coach Joachim Loew.
