You can check out the trailer for yourself in the unadulterated gameplay trailer below, but be warned, it doesn't pull any punches, so if you're more Yoshi's Whooly Mittens then you might want to look away.

RAGE 2 is now set to launch in Spring 2019 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. Interestingly, there is no mention of the game coming to Nintendo Switch, but as with DOOM and Wolfenstein II, we'd expect a port at some point in the future. On initial viewing of the trailer, RAGE 2's gameplay appears to be heavily influenced by the likes of the Mad Max and Just Cause series, both developed by Avalanche Studios as well. Arks played a key role in the story of the first game, so it certainly seems imperative that you play that before hopping into RAGE 2.

Prior to the official announcement, nearly everyone was saying it was Rage 2, and it turns out they were right.

Rage 2 is the sequel to the iD Software shooter released back in 2010.

It's basically Mad Max in all but name, including an open world map and vehicular combat and racing.

Rage 2 is still set on the ruined and wild remains of Earth and in the time since the original game humanity's numbers continue to dwindle while the bloodthirsty gangs still roam the wastes. Rage 2 most definitely looks awesome, and we're looking forward to it. You can enjoy the new gameplay trailer below...

As if the gangs and mutants aren't enough, Walker also has to contend with the Authority, returning antagonists from the first game who threaten anything good remaining in the world.

The game will launch in 2019, so there is plenty of time to get to see more, but we already know that a brand new trailer and "much more" will come at E3 2018.

But what matters now is that Rage 2 is real, and we will definitely get to hear more about it during E3. We're hopeful for Switch support too, but we'll have to wait and see just how graphically demanding gameplay is. Because of that, it's imperative to gear up and learn the ropes of who is who in the game of RAGE 2.
