Lionel Messi believes that it would be bad if his former teammate Neymar signs for Madrid because of what it will mean to Barcelona. However, critics of the 30-year-old claim that he still needs to prove his ability elsewhere in Europe - much like Cristiano Ronaldo did at Manchester United.

Messi starred alongside Neymar for four trophy-laden seasons at Camp Nou, and confessed it would be hard to see his friend join Barcelona's fierce rivals.

And he is convinced that it would be a bad blow for Barca if the move materialised, even though Messi claims he has conveyed his thoughts to Neymar on the matter.

He has won a host of awards, too, collecting the Golden Boot, the Premier League Player of the Year prize, the FWA Footballer of the Year and the PFA Player of the Year awards.

Despite his 14th season at Barcelona coming to and end, the Argentine legend has zero desire to wear any other shirt. "It would make Real Madrid even stronger from a football point of view".

Barcelona are expected to bring more legs to the Nou Camp this summer for them to be able to challenge for the Champions League and Messi is said to have told the club the player he wants.

But if they meet in the World Cup final this summer, watch out.
