Meanwhile, Iran's Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, making his first public comments since US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo issued a series of demands from Iran, said the US had a deep enmity toward his country, but that if Iranian officials do their duty, the country would defeat the US.

The conditions include countering USA sanctions on Iran, protecting Iranian oil sales, and European banks guaranteeing financial cooperation with Iran. He asked Europe to "make up for that silence" and to "stand up against [new] USA sanctions".

Khamenei made the remarks two days after a speech by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, in which he threatened to impose the toughest sanctions on Iran if the Islamic state does not change its course of action domestically and regionally.

Commenting on USA threats to ramp up sanctions on Iran, Ismail Kowsari said, "The people of Iran should stand united in the face of this and they will deliver a strong punch to the mouth of the American Secretary of State and anyone who backs them".

On Monday, Pompeo described demands for any new nuclear deal with Iran that includes the United States.

As the geopolitical drama between not only Iran and the US, but between the USA and its European Union allies unfolds over Trump's decision to pull out of the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal, Iran is vowing that USA sanctions can't touch its oil exports.

USA sanctions lifted after the 2015 deal would be re-imposed, the U.S. secretary of state said, and those and new measures would together constitute "unprecedented financial pressure on the Iranian regime".

The U.S. intelligence community concluded in January 2017 that Russian Federation engaged in a wide-ranging hacking-and-propaganda campaign to sway the 2016 presidential election.

These included the withdrawal of its forces from Syria and an end to its support for rebels in Yemen.

Other participants in the nuclear accord, including France, the United Kingdom and Germany, are trying to keep it intact. The other two signatories to the deal, China and Russian Federation, also want to maintain it.

Iran "can not engage" with the U.S. because "it doesn't stand by its commitments", Khamenei said. Pompeo also vowed to put "unprecedented pressure" on the nation.

Cease-fire deals announced as part of the Minsk accords - September 2014 and February 2015 pacts aimed to resolve the conflict - have failed to hold. He also called for a ban on a heavy-water reactor, which is the most basic way to develop nuclear energy.

Fears have been raised by pundits in recent days that a military confrontation could play out after the United States abandonment of the nuclear deal and its imposition of new sanctions.

After the US's withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Germany, the United Kingdom, and France have been scrambling to save the Iran nuclear deal.
