Rockets upset Warriors in Game 4, Snap Home Game Winning Streak

Yet Green's Twitter-made follies would have been meaningless if the Warriors had been able to win or force overtime on the final possession.

The series winners will face either Cleveland Cavaliers or Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals starting May 31.

"We're a team. We're really good as a team", Harden said after the game, and it's not just cliche.

Eric Gordon's first 3-pointer of the game gave Houston a late five-point lead, and the Rockets held on from there to defeat the Golden State Warriors 95-92 in Oakland, California, on Tuesday night to even the Western Conference finals at two games apiece. It looked like something straight out of a Knicks-Heat series from two decades ago - a Greco-Roman wrestling match.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr lamented the scrambling final sequence after the game. Things didn't work out so well for Draymond Green on Tuesday night. The Warriors are the three-time defending West champs, and one of the greatest teams ever assembled. Though Thompson returned, he didn't look the same and was only a tangential contributor thereafter.

Chris Paul and James Harden
GETTYPaul scored 27 points as Harden added 30 to lead the Rockets to victory

Golden State was outscored 25-12 in the final frame Tuesday.

With Trevor Ariza, P.J. Tucker, Harden and Chris Paul all over that 40-minute mark, you'd think the Rockets would be the team that was exhausted.

"I'm always a proponent of pushing the ball off of a miss rather than taking a timeout, letting the defense get set up".

But facing a do-or-die situation in what could be the most hostile environment in the National Basketball Association, against one of the most dominant teams in league history, the Rockets battled and found a way to even the series at two. "That's why I let them play". The Rockets' stars also were flat-out tougher. They overcame that by allowing only 10 more points, over 11 minutes. I love the way this team responds when our back is against the wall. None other than Harden.

The series is now tied 2 - 2 as they head to Houston for Game 5. Theirs is a wounded, hurting community that needs something to cheer and get its collective mind off the tragedies of last year's flooding and last week's school shooting. Hopefully the Rockets can take care of business again at the Toyota Center on Wednesday night! Complacency, Golden State's oldest and fiercest nemesis, had returned. But it now must not only recapture its identity as a passing, moving team but summon a measure of muscle. Breaking news! The first shutout in the history of the National Basketball Association playoffs had been spoiled.
