Hollywood women applaud impending Harvey Weinstein charges

The founder of the Miramax movie studios was released on bail of eight hundred and fifty thousand euros.

The actress and Kelly said they believe that vocal women like McGowan "shamed Cy Vance", the Manhattan district attorney, into bringing the charges against Weinstein after Vance was accused of dragging his feet and not pursuing previous allegations.

"Mr. Weinstein did not invent the casting couch in Hollywood, and to the extent that there is bad behavior in that industry, that is not what this is about", the attorney said. "We intend to move very quickly to dismiss these charges", Ben Brafman said. We believe that they are constitutionally flawed.

Other women who have publicly accused Weinstein of criminal sexual assaults include the film actress Rose McGowan, who said Weinstein raped her in 1997 in Utah, "Sopranos" actress Annabella Sciorra, who said he raped her in her NY apartment in 1992, and Norwegian actress Natassia Malthe, who said he attacked her in a London hotel room in 2008.

It's not clear whether Weinstein will face additional charges involving other women.

The Hollywood producer has had to turn over is passport and is only allowed in NY or CT, according to CBS, with the 66-year-old due back in court on July 30.

Weinstein will face charges in connection to at least one accuser, former aspiring actress Lucia Evans, who reported that the fallen power broker forced her into oral sex in 2004, The New York Times and New York Daily News said.

And CNN reports the 66-year-old will be charged with rape in the first and third degree in one case, and first degree sex act in another.

The actress said she never wants to see Weinstein again, but if she did, she would tell him, "We got you".

Weinstein's state of mind on Friday was, according to his attorney, "As well as can be expected when you are accused of a crime that you vehemently deny having committed".

Weinstein had been a powerful force in the entertainment world until last year's series of investigative stories from the Times and the New Yorker that detailed accusations of sexual misconduct made by several women.

He narrowly escaped prosecution in 2015 when an Italian model went to New York City police and accused him of groping her during a meeting. Several actresses and models accused him of criminal sexual assaults, but numerous encounters happened too long ago for any prosecution.
