Suspected restaurant gunman, killed by armed bystanders, had no criminal record

Police have identified the man who allegedly opened fire in a restaurant Thursday and was later killed by bystanders as 28-year-old Alexander C. Tilghman.

The man suspected of shooting three people inside an Oklahoma City restaurant before being fatally shot by bystanders had no criminal record or obvious connection to the victims or the restaurant, police said Friday.

In all, officials say there were four people who were injured as a result of the shooting. Police later confirmed a fourth victim with a minor injury.

Police Captain Bo Mathews told reporters the shooting started when the suspect, a man, walked into the busy restaurant and began firing at around 6:30 p.m. CT.

The suspect entered Louie's Bar and Grill during evening service and opened fire on patrons, before the armed civilian confronted him.

A woman and a female juvenile were undergoing surgery for gunshot wounds, but apparently "are going to survive", Capt. He said they were at the restaurant for a birthday party for another granddaughter.

Tilghman was then shot dead outside the restaurant by two citizens identified by police as Juan Carlos Nazario and Bryan Wittle.

But law enforcement disclosed that they reportedly detained "a large number of witnesses", stating that "there is no indication of terrorism at this point".

Police are investigating a shooting at a restaurant near Lake Hefner. Bo Matthews of Oklahoma City Police told KOCO. The identity of the civilian who stopped the gunman is not yet known.

Louie's Grill & Bar is in the northwestern part of the city.

Police have set up a family reunification center at the nearby Lighthouse Center. Bo Mathews said investigators were trying to determine a motive behind the Thursday attack that wounded four people.
