Health officials have identified a bat-infested well in a house in Kozhikode district as the likely epicenter of the outbreak of Nipah virus in the state.

More than 15 bats were found dead at a government school in Himachal Pradesh's Nahan. The blood samples of Muhammed Sabith, who died first in Changaroth were not sent for examination.

Officials at the primary health centre (PHC) confirmed that no steps had been taken to provide quarantine treatment for the immediate relatives of Moosa, though they raised it at the district medical officer (DMO) level. During that outbreak, almost 300 people were infected, and more than 100 people died.

Sudan added that there was no need to panic. "We told them to avoid physical contact in case of an outbreak, as this is a communicable disease".

One of the 10 victims was a nurse who died on Monday after treating a Nipah patient in hospital.

She also noted that the government should consider the future of Lini's children.
