Argentina's Lanzini out of World Cup with ruptured ACL

Argentina have called up River Plate midfielder Enzo Perez as a last-minute replacement for injured Manuel Lanzini, the Argentine Football Association said on Saturday.

Perez will travel directly to Russian Federation from Argentina to meet up with his worldwide teammates, who left Barcelona on Saturday.

Argentina will be without Manuel Lanzini for the World Cup after the West Ham attacking midfielder suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during a training session.

Lanzini's presence in the squad will be missed but Icardi is more than capable of successfully replacing him. His injury is a blow for Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli who had counted on Lanzini for his starting line up.
