First Man trailer: Ryan Gosling la la lands on the moon

The Crown's Claire Foy co-stars alongside Gosling as his concerned wife, Janet Armstrong.

"First Man" reunites Chazelle with "La La Land" star Ryan Gosling in the true story of astronaut Neil Armstrong's mission to land on the moon.

The trailer, released on Friday, teases Armstrong's journey as he prepares for the most unsafe space mission in history, aboard the Apollo 11 spaceflight.

Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for Damien Chazelle's upcoming film, First Man. This trailer was first aired on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight before it arrived online for all to see.

Other stars in the film include Kyle Chandler, Pablo Schreiber and Jason Clarke.

Based on James R. Hansen's 2005 book First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong, the film chronicles the life of the American astronaut and his journey towards becoming the first man to land on the moon.

All the way through, Armstrong is confident of his mission, while those around him are not as certain.

What's striking here is how much they're playing up the danger and the risk, both elements we tend to forget about because the mission was a success.

So far, the Best Picture race appears to be MAJOR SLIM PICKENS so First Man will be like that first hunk of meat thrown to starving lions. Mowgli, Aviron's Serenity and Annapurna's Where'd You Go, Bernadette?
