The best chance of those will be in north and north-central Alabama. Afternoon highs only reach the upper 60s to low 70s under cloudy skies. Wind: S 10-20; gusty.

Pockets of heavy rain and some thunderstorms will be seen into the early afternoon hours primarily for communities along and south of I-96. The rain chance decreases to 30 percent tonight.

Meteorologist Mark Larson says Sunday will be the last really hot and humid day for a while because there's heat relief in sight and as temps fall a bit, rain and storm chances will be rising. Between about 3-8pm Wednesday we'll watch a cold front swinging through the area that could trigger strong and severe thunderstorms. Lows will drop in the mid 60s to low 70s with a northeast wind around 5 miles per hour.

The front stalls just south of us Tuesday, keeping clouds and cooler air around. Regardless, we have a marginal threat of severe storms Monday night where a few severe storms are possible bringing the chance of damaging winds and hail.

Thursday: Partly sunny with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Beyond Wednesday, rain chances become minimal as high temperatures creep back into the 90s for the second half of the week.

A few showers are possible Friday into Friday evening, but certainly not a washout. Temperatures will top off this afternoon in the mid to upper 80s with the heat index at 90+ for most.
