Millie Bobby Brown Deletes Twitter After 'Homophobic Memes' Go Viral

Brown is set to return for the third season of the Netflix series.

Millie is a supporter of the LGBTQ community.

Brown's Instagram account was still active as of Thursday, but she has disabled comments.

According to Deadline, she had been plagued by the hashtag #TakeDownMillieBobbyBrown.

The meme is thought to have originated as an inside joke from within the LGBTQ community. In a since deleted tweet, one of the people responsible for spreading the memes had this to say: "People getting mad over the Millie Bobby Brown homophobic meme makes me giggle".

Twitter linked numerous memes back to people in the LGBTQ community, further suggesting the posts are dark humor rather than real vitriol. She would often post updates regarding her personal life, projects she was working on or political statements. How low-class do you have to be to think using her image as a hate-filled meme is somehow a good idea?

This has not stopped the damaging meme from spreading, however, with one popular tweet posted on May 12 saying "Millie bobby brown arriving at pride" above a video of someone driving a auto into several protesters.

The Stranger Things star wasn't the first celebrity to quit social media after experiencing bullying. The Star Wars fanbase has been particularly toxic. The post has since been deleted. Most recently, The Last Jedi star Kelly Marie Tran erased everything on her Instagram profile after being harassed by those who were unhappy with the character of Rose and the actress in general. "I saw Millie Bobby Brown in the airport and asked for a pic and she said "only if you remove the hijab" and I said it's my faith and she aggressively pulled it off my head and stamped on it", Fiona tweeted.

It looks like the Eleven actress has had enough of social media trolls and the hate forced her to put an end to her activities on the platform. However, the bad content has come back causing a distraught Millie to take the extreme action.
