Kyrie Irving Will Not Be Surprised If Celtics Go After LeBron

"That's the only thing I'm really anxious about", Kyrie Irving said.

Kyrie Irving says that he is not considering a contract extension with the Boston Celtics because it does not make financial sense. "We'll see what happens". Teams will always be preparing for their absolute best against them, and nobody will take them off guard.

"The focus is exclusively on winning a championship next year".

"Irving shook his head and said, 'No, ' when asked if he had spoken with the Celtics about the chances of reuniting with the NBA's best player", Katz wrote.

Irving, 24, was traded to the Celtics last offseason for fellow All-Star Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder, so he can apparently lead a team away from the imposing shadow of a talent like James. When you consider Stevens might be the most level headed coach in the National Basketball Association, who wants nothing to do with any outside talk or expectations, he is exactly the man they want to be leading this young group with insane expectations.

On Tuesday, days after giving a cryptic quote to the New York Times about his future, Irving was presented the opportunity to clarify that he would like to stay with Boston long-term. One, because he could very well be a one-year rental, and two, because the Nuggets don't have the assets that other teams do, but on the off-chance that the Celtics and Nuggets make a deal for Irving, here are three possibilities for what that trade could look like. Obviously the speculation from the outside, it's inevitable. "You saw guys that are literally going to be stars in this league for years to come". Continually doing that over the past five years that has put Boston in a position to be a legitimate championship contender for the next decade or more.

"To kind of have something like that unexpected, it was hurtful, because just a lot of what I wanted to accomplish with our guys and individually as one of the leaders of the team", Irving said. "Me and my strength and conditioning coach, we're taking it one day at a time". You don't really try to control that narrative. "I think around this time is probably 15 weeks until the third week in September -- not that I'm thinking about it or anything - so I'm excited to just really utilize this offseason to dedicate myself to my craft and things outside of it", he said.

So it makes sense that Irving would wait and, at minimum, allow himself to get that extra $80 million.

Irving isn't quite ready to take part in any practices.

The Celtics are a young team with a lot of potential moving forward.
