David Spade donates $100,000 to mental health organization following Kate's death

Both centers in Oklahoma that receive calls from the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline are seeing an increase in calls following last week's deaths of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain. Her husband of 24 years, Andy Spade - David Spade's brother, revealed that Kate suffered from depression and anxiety for many years and was actively seeking help for her depression.

The hospital's annual meeting is also an opportunity to celebrate accomplishments of the past year and offer a heartfelt thank you to staff and volunteers, as well as the many partners, donors and community members dedicated to reducing stigma associated with mental illness.

"Of the clients who accessed mental health walk-in clinic services in Prince County between July 2016 and December 7, 2017, 70 per cent of those recorded were new clients - at least one third of those were men", the Health P.E.I. statement said. He died of an apparent suicide at his hotel in eastern France, where he was filming a segment for his show on CNN called "Parts Unknown".

Another common myth is that the mere mention of the word suicide by friends and loved ones leads individuals to take their lives. In the span of 15 years, 13 physicians - a lot of them on faculty at the academic medical center - took their lives, she said. The national suicide-prevention hotline, which has helped more than 6m people since it started in 2005, has also been funded with the same $7m a year for the past five years.

But people are talking about suicide prevention - which Zimmerman said can be helpful.

And Moutier says when it comes to warning signs, it's important to look beyond the classic symptoms of depression and hopelessness. "It's unlikely that someone is necessarily going to admit to it if they weren't already reaching out to talk about it", she said.
