Salman Khan’s ‘Race 3’ crosses Rs 100 crore milestone over opening weekend

Actor Salman Khan's name appears on Google when a search for "Worst Bollywood Actor" is made. The love for "Bhai" and the fact that it is Eid season is a success mantra the team behind the superstar banks on every year. The "slick and stylish" thriller opened to Rs 29.17 crore on Friday, thus breaking the opening day record of Salman's previous Eid releases like Dabangg (Rs 14.5 crore), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 27.25 crore), Kick (Rs 26.4 crore) and Tubelight (Rs 21.15 crore).

Race 3 is now the sixth film to cross Rs 100-crore mark in 2018. Superstar Salman Khan had all the reasons to celebrate the big festival as it was the day after Race 3 release and also little nephew Yohan Khan's birthday.

In the third week since release, Parmanu collected a total of Rs 60.05 crore. This is the third-highest opening Salman Khan film on Eid, after Ali Abbas Zafar's Sultan (Rs 36.54 crore) and Kabir Khan's Ek Tha Tiger (Rs 32.93 crore). However, the film that also starred Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, had a five-day weekend as opposed to Race 3's regular weekend. Today those lines fit perfectly to the box-office business that the film is doing ever since its release on 15 June.

Another factor to be weighed in for its performance on weekdays is word-of-mouth.

Salman's record stands unchallenged as other stars are not even close to this number. The film also features Anil Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Bobby Deol, Daisy Shah, Saqib Saleem and Freddy Daruwala in pivotal roles. Race 3 is directed by Remo D'Souza.
